Item Description
Two thin artboards fit together, measuring 14-7/8x16-7/8" w/India ink original art by "Blondie" creator Chic Young. Art is for Oct. 21, 1956 and features 12 panels. First panel has title stat paste-over (which has aged from glue). Art features bum shouting for Dagwood to look out, allowing Dagwood to avoid being hit by speeding truck. Grateful, Dagwood invites the bum home, where he proceeds to offer him a bath (complete w/flea powder), cleans his clothes and a meal cooked by Blondie. The bum asks to use their phone to call his girlfriend over, and when she arrives he proclaims "Look, Lulu, We Can Get Married - - I Have A Home." To this, Dagwood tosses him out, stating "And If You See Me Step In Front Of A Truck Again, Just Mind Your Own Business." Dagwood appears in 11 panels, Blondie in five, Daisy in four. Last panel has King Features Syndicate copyright strip. Some scattered aging/wear to margins w/a few thin streaks of tape staining across three panels, o/w image area is clean and VF/Exc. overall. A funny, well-drawn example from a prime period.
