Item Description
This rare item pre-dates Whitehead & Hoag's introduction of what today are known as pin-back buttons by a mere year. This item is 1-3/16" with a narrow tin rim clamped over a circular tin reverse which has a soldered on horizontal bar pin. Above and below the pin is the readable text "The Pettibone Co./Cin't I.O" The front tin rim holds a clear piece of celluloid over the interior paper upon which the design is printed. Shown is a big cotton ball and at its center is the profile of a black man with exaggerated lips and wearing a hat with a hole in it. Surrounding text "Cotton States And International Exposition Atlanta Ga. 1895." Historic, NM and rare.
