Item Description

17.75x23.75" artboard w/pen and ink original art by Chad Grothkopf for July 6, 1952 Sunday page. Title is paste-over stat but all else is original art. Page features 12 panels, showing Howdy Doody, Dilly Dally and Mr. Bluster arriving at horse ranch to ride horses. Howdy advises Mr. Bluster to rest in a hammock while he and Dilly Dally ride, causing Mr. Bluster to attempt to prove he's not to old to ride. A series of four panels show him in silhouette attempting to ride an obviously uncooperative horse, which causes him to improvise, arriving in hammock attached to horse in last panel. Art shows Grothkopf's preliminary blue pencil artwork in most panels, but o/w art remains clean. Artboard shows wear to left corner and some scattered margin aging. Fine/VF overall w/Exc. art.
