Item Description
4.25" tall brass "Delegate" badge for the "1924 Democratic Convention New York". White ribbon stripe has dust soil and reverse hanger has soldered replaced pin. Overall Fine. It took these delegates a record 103 ballots to nominate John W. Davis as a compromise candidate after front runners Al Smith and William Gibbs McAdoo both failed. The resulting ticket of Davis and Charles Bryan produced very few jugate designs, this being quite scarce but the most affordable. Hake Guide  #1 in 13/16" size and by Bastian Bros. The portraits have the very slightest bit of tan age tone but no spotting whatsoever and there is only the most minimal amount of typical and  essentially microscopic surface wear. The entire button has a high gloss finish and overall we grade as extremely Fine displaying NM.
