Item Description
The master of escape, magician Harry Houdini (1874-1926), astounded the world w/feats of escape whether it be from hand cuffs, chains, jail cells, water, various other containment devices. Offered here is a vintage 3-9/16x5-3/16" photo featuring a nice portrait image of the master magician. Photo has been signed in black ink at lower right, along w/"Los Angeles - Oct. 5 - 1907" inscription. From 1907 and throughout the 1910s, Houdini performed w/great success in the US, freeing himself from jails, handcuffs, chains, ropes, and straitjackets, often while hanging from a rope in sight of street audiences. This autograph was likely obtained at one of these performances in LA. Photo has expected aging and upper right has tiny nick out of margin w/small tear totaling 1/8" in length. A few scattered tiny age spots, but photo displays VF w/Exc. signature/inscription. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
