Item Description
Large 26x31.75" molded and painted composition high relief store display. Unmarked but by Old King Cole Inc., the premiere manufacturer of Disney store displays. 1940. Old King Cole made a wide variety of exceptional Disney displays for stores and theaters. This figure depicts Donald Duck in classic pose. "Donald Duck" name painted between feet. Open back reveals two wooden braces as made; one running vertically through figure w/second in outstretched arm. Displays shows moderate aging and wear w/1" crack at Donald's hat tassel, moderate 2.25" crack at neck and scattered surface cracking and dust soiling. Scattered edge wear w/some surface flaking at top rear edge of Donald's head, which has had tiny hole made for display purposes. .75" flake off middle left of Donald's bill and another flake by Donald's eye at edge of bill. All paint appears to be original. VG overall. Rare and first we've seen of this 1940 variety.
