Item Description
8-3/8x11-1/8x2.75" deep cardboard box w/die-cut window (which is missing) has "Spiderman" name stamped on end and bears 1963 Marvel Comics copyright. Box shows moderate even aging and edge/corner wear that includes moisture staining at lower left corner of lid and two 5/8" tears at window as well as .75" edge rub w/small hole. Box is VG overall. Very rare first issue box as noted by 1963 copyright. Comes w/third version of Ben Cooper Spider-Man costume, which bears 1965 copyright (first version has 1963 copyright, second version was issued w/o copyright). Thin vacuform plastic mask has 1/8" crack at top, .5" dent and some scattered dust soiling but still displays VF. Size Large (12-14) rayon and cotton costume is nicely detailed w/silk-screened "Spider-Man" name and costume chest design. Costume has moderate staining at waist and upper legs w/3.25" split at crotch. Fine. This costume box variety is highly sought after by Spider-Man collectors and rarely comes up for sale.
