Item Description
10-7/8x15-7/8" thin artboard has pen and ink original art for page 10 of "Daredevil" #185, published by Marvel Comics in Aug. 1982. Part of the seminal "Daredevil" run by Frank Miller and Klaus Janson, this issue featured a Miller cover w/all interior art by Janson. Miller first provided tight pencil breakdowns which Janson then adapted into finished art for the issue. Story features Daredevil's friend and confidant Foggy Nelson adopting a gruff private eye persona named "Guts" Nelson and fantasizing about being a tough detective, w/scenes showing him timidly avoiding confrontations and paying for information from bruiser in pool hall. Last of six panels shows man punching Foggy out of view. Art has a few minor areas of white correctional fluid and some small screentone accents. This is the first issue of "Daredevil" to have been penciled and inked solely by Janson. Handwritten title at top along w/issue/page number. Top left and bottom corners have been clipped, none affecting art, which remains Exc. Miller has signed at lower left in black ink. From the collection of comics and illustration historian Brian M. Kane.
