Item Description
9.25" tall wind-up figure w/built-in key. Made in Japan by Popy, 1970s. Based on the "Jetter Mars" anime series directed by Rintaro and written by Osamu Tezuka, who originally planned the series as an anime remake of his popular manga series "Astro Boy," unfavorable circumstances during pre-production led him to abandon it temporarily and create "Jetter Mars" instead. Although it remains as one of Tezuka's lesser known works, it has gained a large cult following and is fondly remembered. Figure is mostly tin litho and has plastic head. Thin vinyl cape attached around neck. Figure has some scattered lt. wear w/small spot of black paint off hair and some creases to cape. Arms show trace wear and wind-up is VF overall. Scarce.
