Lot of three items, all from c. 1940s. Lot includes 1.5x2x5/8 " deep matchbox contains "Flyingman Safety Matches" by Sincere Match & Tobacco Factory Sdn. Bhd. of Malaysia. Cover label clearly features image of Captain Marvel, though his name does not appear. Box does not contain any matches. Scattered insect damage, but mostly at upper right, slightly affecting Marvel image. VG. Miniature 3-3/8x5.25" movie herald for 1944 Rio de Janiero, Brazil showing of the 1941 Republic Pictures "The Adventures Of Captain Marvel" movie serial starring Tom Tyler, who is shown on front (in differently colored Marvel suit). Text on reverse in Portuguese. Scattered insect damage at edges on reverse. Fine overall. Both this and matchbox are first we've offered in our 49 years. Last item is 3.5x7.5" glassine bag for "Empalme Mani Toastado Roasted Peanuts" from Panama. Bag features image of flying Captain Marvel (w/o cape) and is Exc. aside from lt. even aging. From the collection of Chip Kidd, renowned author, graphic designer and pop culture enthusiast extraordinaire.
