Item Description
7.75x8x2.5" painted cast iron mechanical bank by Shepard Hardware Company. Underside of base has July 7, 1885 patent date. Base features raised "Trick Pony" name on front/back main side w/"Bank" text on front. Scattered paint loss w/loss being most evident on top of pony's body/saddle. Base retains 60% paint while pony retains 50% paint. Original trap on underside but missing key. Bank's action is described as follows - Place coin in pony's mouth, pull lever and his head lowers and deposits coin in trough as trough bottom tilts down, depositing coin. Fine overall.
