Item Description
10.5/8x16" thin artboard featuring pen and ink original art by noted comic book artist Curt Swan, best known as the artist most associated w/Superman during the period fans and historians call the Silver Age of comic books. Swan produced hundreds of covers and stories from the 1950s through the 1980s. Offered here is the original art for page two of "Superman" #378, published by DC Comics in Dec. 1982. Issue was written by Gary Kupperberg w/interior art by Swan and inks by Dave Hunt. Six-panel page shows Superman guiding in the then-new Space Shuttle to land at Cape Canaveral in first two panels. NASA personnel watch as he flies off, comparing his powers to that of a Saturn V rocket and mentioning Neil Armstrong and the Lunar Landing. "NASA" name paste-overs on Space Shuttle in second panel. Some blue pencil editorial notations visible. Art remains Exc. Comes w/reading copy of the comic this art was created for.
