The Brothers Hildebrandt were a duo of fantasy artists consisting of twin brothers Greg Hildebrandt (1939-2024) and Tim Hildebrandt (1939-2006), who were widely recognized artists in the world of Tolkien-inspired art. Some of the Lord Of The Rings work they are best known for is a series of Tolkien calendars produced from 1976 up until Tim Hildebrandt's death. Custom 25.5x30.5" frame contains acrylics on board original art painting, created in 2002 and based off of sketches done in 1978 for the 1979 Tolkien calendar that never came to be. Foreboding imagery features the Hobbits Merry and Pippin, wearing orc armor and hiding amidst the unforgiving landscape of Mordor as an orc army charges by them. Mount Doom can be seen in the distant bkg. Painted "Tim And Greg Hildebrandt" signature at lower right. While frame shows some scattered wear, art remains clean and Exc. and is ready for display. Perfect for any Lord Of The Rings collection.
