The Brothers Hildebrandt were a duo of fantasy artists consisting of twin brothers Greg Hildebrandt (1939-2024) and Tim Hildebrandt (1939-2006), who were widely recognized artists in the world of Tolkien-inspired art. Some of the Lord Of The Rings work they are best known for is a series of Tolkien calendars produced from 1976 up until Tim Hildebrandt's death. Offered here is an original pencil sketch on vellum, showing the Hildebrandt Brothers' concept design for Treebeard, the oldest living Ent. Art has handwritten "Tree Beard" name below it and both Greg and Tim have signed their names in pencil at right. Vellum sheets is unevenly trimmed and has been custom-matted in a 16.5x21" mat. Fine overall. While vellum shows obvious handling wear and even aging, it is still an extremely significant piece of Hildebrandt Lord Of The Rings history and would make for a wonderful framed display.
