15x18.5" framed original blue pencil and inked art by Mark Martin for The Art Of Mark Martin exhibit held at the Storefront Artist Project in Pittsfield, MA in 2010. Poster design features great images of single Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, SpongeBob SquarePants w/Patrick Star, Gnatrat and more. Martin's first major work in the 1980s was Gnatrat, a parody of Batman, featuring a rat who dresses as a gnat to fight crime. He went on to work on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, including several covers as well as creating "20 Nude Dancers 20," a long-running humor strip featured in Comics Buyer's Guide. As an editor, Martin created the anthology Hyena and briefly oversaw a humor section in Heavy Metal. He also edited the first edition of Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics. Martin then moved toward working in children's comics, often for Nickelodeon Magazine, while producing other work for his website. His collaborations w/long-time friend Jim Woodring include the children's series Tantalizing Stories, and several mini comics featuring their characters Frank and Montgomery Wart. Signed at bottom by Martin. Exc. Comes w/eight printed posters this art was produced for. Also includes Mark Martin's Runaway Comics #1 and 2. Lawrence Klein Collection.
