8.5x11" handwritten letter on Eastman's personal letterhead (bearing a printed Eastman/Laird Turtles image) is undated, but due to content can be estimated to be from late 1984, early 1985 as Eastman references the upcoming Raphael #1 (see lot #22), which was published in April 1985. Letter thanks Klein for the contact info for noted comic artist/inker Klaus Janson, whom Eastman hopes to get to do a cover "For The 'Raphael' One Issue Micro-Series, Instead Of The One I did." This would ultimately not come to pass, but offers an interesting "What Might've Been." Letter goes on to mention enclosed photocopies (which are included w/letter) and figures (which are not included). Letter comes w/five photocopies, including classic cover image for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1, Eastman print (on stiff paper) of Raphael smoking cigar, Eastman Leonardo illustration w/katana holding flag reading "No #1 Frank Miller - Ronin - Fan" which has been signed/dated by Eastman, Eastman and Laird illustration of Leonardo and Wolverine leaping into battle w/Eastman adding "A Team-Up For The Future?" handwritten suggestion at bottom, final photocopy shows Turtles as various Marvel heroes - Thor, Daredevil, Conan the Barbarian, Captain America, Iron Man and Wolverine. Letter has been folded as mailed but o/w all else is Exc. Lawrence Klein Collection.
