12x17" DC Comics Sparta artboard has pencil original art by Ed Hannigan with inks by Klaus Janson for cover to World's Finest #293, published by DC Comics July 1983. Art shows Superman and Batman battling Null and Void, "Two New Super-Foes You Won't Forget!" who made their debut in this issue. Each features interesting depiction, with Null's body being solid black ink with swirling white paint within while Void features rows of horizontal lines across his torso, continuing down his arms. Cover art comes with three acetate overlays; two featuring splashes of black ink that were used to print the blue and pink effects of Null's powers. The third overlay is a masking overlay, used to prevent these overprint effects from covering the "World's Finest" logo as well as the titles/logos for Superman and Batman.

"While Null and Void don't typically appear on lists with the Joker and Lex Luthor, they did have a rather striking debut." noted Hake's Senior Consignment Manager Mike Bollinger. "Any villain whose first appearance saw them giving both Batman and Superman a run for their money on the cover was sure to interest comic fans. Readers had to know, 'What's the deal with these guys?'"

Both Superman and Batman have some white correctional fluid touch-ups. The "World's Finest" logo as well as the titles/logos for Superman and Batman are pasted stats as are the issue's publishing indicia and text block introducing Null and Void. Top margin has inked title and issue number. Due to a sizing issue, Hannigan and Janson's original signatures within the art (at lower left) have been covered with repositioned pasted stat. Both artists have signed along right margin; Janson in blue felt tip pen, adding "2/84" date; Hannigan in black, adding "3-23-10" date. Center left and bottom margins have handwritten editorial notations; bottom margin having two pieces of white tape with some tape residue to either side. Two sets of staple holes to upper right margin. Back has DC Comics copyright inkstamp. Artboard shows some scattered handling wear with vertical crease at upper left margin edge. Artboard is Fine/VF overall. Aside from tiny spot of glue staining by Null's foot, art remains clean and VF/Exc. Art was obtained directly from Klaus Janson in Feb. 1984. Art also includes EGS 9.0 graded copy of World's Finest Comics #293, DC Comics, 7/83 that is signed by Ed Hannigan and Klaus Janson. Lawrence Klein Collection.
