Item Description
10.5x15.75" thin artboard has original pen and ink art for page 16 of Sept. 1975 issue of "The Avengers" #139. Page features six panels, and w/Avenger Yellowjacket being featured in five of the six panels. Additionally, Yellowjacket's wife (The Wasp) is pictured in picture frame in first panel and as The Wasp in flashback second panel. "Prescription: Violence!" story written by Steve Englehart features the villainous Whirlwind attempting to kill The Wasp and then Yellowjacket. Art features Yellowjacket fondly remembering his wife only to be interrupted when Whirlwind attacks. Yellowjacket summons ants to destabilize the ground and when Whirlwind lands in next to last panel (which is mostly a paste-over), he sinks into the ground. Art was by popular "Iron Man" artist George Tuska (1916-2009). Inks were provided by Vince Colletta. Reverse has Marvel copyright stamp. Scattered white correctional fluid touch-ups w/stamped title at top along w/handwritten issue/page number. Aged tape strip at top center and center left. Despite some aging to paste-over panel, art remains clean and VF.
