Item Description
3.25x5.5". A leader of the Harlem Renaissance, Hughes writes out his poem ‘Youth’ first published in 1929 on this 1949 dated post card. The closing line “America Together We March” eludes to the coming decades of change through action that defined the Civil Rights movement. Postal cancellation from "New York, NY Sep. 20 7:30 PM 1949" and "Bronx Central Station". Postal markings interfere with poem and first half of signature but both remain bold and legible. VF. Rare. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
