Item Description
17.5x23" original first printing poster for March 10, 1968 concert (presented by Durwood C. Settles) that took place at the Washington Hilton's International Ballroom featuring The Jimi Hendrix Experience and The Soft Machine. Poster design by D.W. Beeghly features great psychedelic stylings w/photo image of the band, showing Noel Redding, Hendrix and Mitch Mitchell. This concert was part of The Jimi Hendrix Experience's first American tour and the audience featured two plane-loads of fans who were shut out of the band's sold-out New York performance. "Washington Post" Pulitzer-winning reporter Jim Hoagland had this to say after the concert - "Jimi Hendrix Is The P. T. Barnum Of Rock." Poster shows obvious margin wear w/scattered handling wear at top and pin holes at corners and along margins. Upper left corner has .75" piece off. Upper right corner has 1x2" piece off. Lower left corner has 5/8x1.25" piece off and lower right corner has .5x.75" piece off. Center right margin has 2" tear and bottom center margin has jagged 3.25" tears. The zeroes in the pricing information at bottom have had peace symbols added in pencil. Poster is in its original state and has no restoration. Technically just Good/VG, but photo image at top center remains mostly unaffected and if matted and framed, poster would still make for a nice display. Very rare poster w/only a few known examples. Extremely desirable Jimi Hendrix poster.
