Caniff letter is 7-1/8x7.5” w/”Milton Caniff” letterhead. Handwritten letter in fiber tip pen is dated “2 Sept. ‘83” w/content including “If It Were Not For Such Loyal Supporters As You And Your Bride, We Cartoonists Would Be Nowhere. I Value Your Friendship. Cordially Milton Caniff” w/NYC address at lower left. Exc. Kelly letter is 8.5x11” typewritten on stationery which has specialty printed art at bottom of swamp w/Pogo fishing in boat while Albert smokes cigar. Letter dated April 28, 1970 has Publishers-Hall Syndicate return address. Text mentions enclosed strip, and closes w/”My Thanks For Your Unremitting Interest. Long May You Wave.”. Signed in ink “Walt Kelly”. Lt. horizontal fold through center as mailed, otherwise Exc. Superb letters from two legendary comic strip artists- the creator of “Terry And The Pirates” and “Steve Canyon”, and the creator of “Pogo”. Caniff was President of the NCS in 1948; Kelly was President in 1954. From the Schechter Family Collection.
