Item Description
Each thin art board has 6.75x12” India ink image area w/hand inked caption, “Fischetti” ink signature, ink date at lower left, and ink inscription in margin. All were syndicated by Publishers-Hall. April 9, 1968 has two soldiers in combat gear looking at Vietnamese woman weeping in ruins. African-American soldier says “I Never Thought This Place Would Ever Remind Me Of Home.” Autograph reads “Happy Birthday Stuart Schechter From John Fischetti-1968”. May 10, 1968 has Robert Kennedy telling staff “I Could Be Off To A Historic Start- Being Inaugurated While Pacing A Hospital Corridor”. Autograph reads “For Mrs. Schechter- Drawn Before The Awful Tragedy My Kind Regards- John Fischetti-1968”. Jan. 9, 1969 has armed Arabs in desert holding “Israel Nuclear Bomb?” newspaper w/one saying “Going Ahead With Our Plan To Annihilate Israel Could Bring Us Into The Twentieth Century In One Helluva Hurry”. Autograph reads “For Sy Schechter- Happy Birthday! John Fischetti 2/14/69.” All are Exc./NM. Fischetti (1916-1980) won the 1969 Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartoons and was voted best editorial cartoonist by the NCS 1962-1965. All are timely, superior examples.
