Item Description
17.25x21.5” thin art board has 16.25x20.5” India ink image area w/Felix in all 12 panels for Oct. 6. Storyline has Felix in laboratory of scientist who’s working on a powerful anesthetic formula. He puts a few drops on Felix and hits him on head w/hammer to no effect. Happy Felix has idea, goes to hamburger stand and steals two hamburgers. As he eats them the owner hits him w/a frying pan, then a chair, then a skillet. The owner passes out from exhaustion as Felix takes one more burger. Last panel has Felix enjoying burger and saying “Chemistry Is O.K. Some Day I’ll Chase The Mice Out Of Joe’s Place To Pay For These Hamburgers” as hungry dog follows along. All art is by Otto Messmer who created Felix for the Pat Sullivan animation studio in 1919. Complete w/King Features Syndicate copyright label at the bottom of panel 12. Art board is lightly scored horizontally between top six and bottom six panels as mailed by the artist. Image area clean and page will mat and frame to NM appearance. One of the nicest Felix Sunday page originals we’ve ever seen. From a prime period, superb in every way. From the Jan Wahl collection.
