Item Description
Lot of six 9.5x12" sheets of animation paper w/rough pencil sketches for working ideas for the 1931 Mickey Mouse animated short "Fishin' Around." Four of six sheets feature three blocked-out panels, first sheet w/rough images of Mickey fishing in boat, a fish jumps up and steals Mickey's lunch. This sheet has .5x1" corner missing, not affecting art. Fine. Second sheet features Pluto underwater, chasing fish up into boat, much to Mickey's delight. Additional boat scenes at right. Third sheet features image of worm in Mickey's bait can flirting w/female worm, Pluto looking at reflection in water and following Mickey as he walks and whistles. Fourth sheet again features Pluto looking at reflection, underwater w/crab and blank square w/extensive text. Additional text at right. Fifth sheet features five panel sequence w/rough art depicting Mickey digging for worms, a bird swooping down to steal one. Handwritten text below. Last sheet features Mickey fishing, catching a noisy bag that is revealed to be full of cats. Sheets have varying degrees of handling wear/aging, some w/a few scattered creases. Fine-Exc. overall w/all art remaining clean and VF-Exc. Great insight into how these classic animated shorts evolved. Unique. Early and historic.
