Item Description
Original cardboard box w/end label features bw photo of legendary Pittsburgh Pirate player Roberto Clemente along w/his facsimile signature. Box contains pair of shoes size 9-1/2 orange, black and white "Athletic Shoes" made in the US, c. 1972. Heels have rubber attachment w/"Clemente" facsimile signature and each insole has Clemente's full facsimile signature and large "21" jersey number. Box shows scattered wear w/creases and small tears along bottom edge of paper end label. Label also has .5x.75" tape stain, not affecting image or text. Fine overall. Shoes are unused and NM. These shoes were produced in a variety of colors, which were only sold in Clemente's native Puerto Rico. This color variety never saw mass production as Clemente's tragic death in a plane crash in 1972 halted production, this being the only pair produced in this color to the best of our knowledge.
