Pair of 3x3-3/8x1" thick banks designed like books by Zell, ©1938 TLR Inc. Two color varieties, green and red embossed leatherette over brass. Front covers have relief image of Lone Ranger on back of rearing Silver w/lasso surrounding scene. Additional cover text reads "A Cache For Coins." Coin slot in top is designated "For Coins And Bills." Four corners have small brass reinforcement tips. Back of green bank has "Sun Life Insurance Company Of America" Baltimore, MD. imprint, indicating this was a give-away promotional item. Spine has bank insurance text. Comes w/original key. Exc. Red variety was sold in stores. Has extensive text on back w/detailed physical description of the Lone Ranger and Silver as well as listing his good habits- "Never Smokes, Drinks, Swears", etc. Scattered edge wear w/some aging to brass edges. VF/Exc.
