Item Description
Lot of 18, typically 4" to 5.5" tall by 3.5" wide, each featuring a different Hollywood actor. Printed by the American Tobacco Co. Inc. in conjunction w/Lucky Strike cigarettes. c. 1930s. Die-cut place-cards are designed w/caricature bodies and photo illustration of movie star heads. All are shown w/"Lucky Strike" logo and many have cigarette in hand. Stars include - Jack Holt, Buck Jones, Noah Beery, Jack Mulhall, Lloyd Hughes, Monte Blue, Richard Cromwell, Edmund Lowe, Lloyd Hamilton, Alexander Gray, Slim Summerville, James Hall, Glenn Tryon, James Rennie, Neil Hamilton (Commissioner Gordon on the 1966 "Batman" TV show), Joe Cook, Raymond Hackett and Johnny Hines. Cards feature cowboy, leisure and sports themes. Die-cut cards are designed w/pop-out easel backs and to have Lucky Strike cigarettes inserted in holes at feet and openings above. Match sticks were designed to be fit under arms of actors as canes. All are bright and clean w/just lt. handling wear. Few have lt. wear/aging but remain unused and Exc. to NM overall.
