Item Description
Original 8x10" glossy photo. Great image of him in the outfield looking upwards to field a ball but his face is still clearly visible. Photo is c. 1943. His second stint with the Grays lasted 1943-1946 (having previously played for them in 1932). During this time the team won Negro World Series titles in 1943 and 1944. Extensive signage on the outfield wall behind him. Photo was once mounted and as such reverse has moderate amount of paper adhered to it. Lt. handling wear but remains totally clean and glossy and image is sharp. VF. Bell's baseball career is as storied as any player in the Negro Leagues and he is one on the game's greatest players. He was inducted into the National Baseball HOF in 1974, well ahead of many of his peers. This is an amazing photo of Bell in action as a player for one of the greatest franchises in Negro League history. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
