Item Description
Lot of three 10x20" artboards have original mixed media art depicting the main box lid art for three 1960s Pyro Plastics "Table Top Navy" 1/1,200 scale model kit series. Included are No. C391-60, the battleship USS South Dakota; C394-60, the Essex Class aircraft carrier USS Yorktown, which was lost in the Battle of Midway in June 1942; and the battleship USS Massachusetts. Art shows all three at sea, the USS Massachusetts painted in sea camouflage colors. All art is signed by A.J. Rudisill, an internationally-acclaimed artist whose original acrylic paintings of landscapes and seascapes have been exhibited at major galleries throughout the country. Earlier in his career Rudisill provided stunning model kit box art, such as those offered here. Each has pair of printing centering labels and first two have strips of tape staining below art from original Pyro name labels, of which only the USS Massachusetts' remains. Art is NM and would look stunning framed. Impressive lot of model kit art.
