Item Description
Large 21x35" artboard w/paper overlay (top overlay marked "Tiger Tank #686M") has original mixed media art depicting the main box lid art for an unknown and possibly unproduced Lindberg model kit featuring a version of the M48 Patton tank whose front end has been painted to resemble a tiger. The side of the tank has "Tiger Fighter" name painted on, a reference to Nazi Germany's Tiger tanks of World War II. Art shows troops advancing in battle, an upturned Jeep laying at left. Preliminary pencil showing troops at right can be seen w/finished artwork. Art is signed "Addison," possibly Robert Addison, considered one of the greatest American realist painters of the 20th Century. Image area measures 15.5x27.5". Margins have large areas covered by the artist's initial paintbrush strokes to remove excess paint as well as production stickers/notations and printing labels. Margins show wear but these could be easily matted out. Art is NM and would look stunning framed. Impressive art.
