Item Description
18.75x32.5" Strathmore artboard has original mixed media art depicting the main box lid art for 1960s Pyro Plastics model kit No. 264-349 featuring the Tuna Clipper fishing vessel "Gulf Star." Art shows the ship off the coast, w/a flock of seagulls trailing it. Another fishing vessel can be seen in the bkg. This model kit was modeled from one of the two Tuna Clippers of the Avondale Marine Ways Company of New Orleans, LA. Gulf Star's sister ship was the "Sea Magic" and is likely the ship in the bkg. "Gulf Star" was wrecked on a reef off the coast of Peru in 1977. Art is signed by Howard W. Arnold. Large image area measures 14.5x28.75". Art has small 1/8x.5" area of flaking to ship's bow but o/w art is NM and would look stunning framed. Impressive model kit art.
