Item Description
9.5x12" sheet of animation paper has image area measuring 6x6.25" in lead pencil (w/some colored pencil accents) depicting a cat (reminiscent of Julius from Disney's earlier "Alice Comedies") character behind the wheel of an automobile. This production drawing is from the very first Mickey Mouse cartoon to be drawn - "Plane Crazy" - which was the fourth cartoon released (March 17, 1929, though it was test-screened for a theater audience on May 15, 1928). This drawing, which is marked "58" at lower right, is from a short sequence in which Mickey Mouse flies his homemade airplane, flying directly towards the cat's car, only to pull up just in time, but not before scaring the cat as seen here. Sheet has some margin aging but art remains Exc. Great early historic Mickey Mouse cartoon production art, by one of his earliest and best artists.
