Item Description
Pair of framed pieces of original art from the collection of arcade historian Bill Kurtz, author of such books as "The Encyclopedia Of Arcade Video Games" and "Arcade Treasures." Larger 30.25x33.25" frame contains original mixed media backglass artwork for "Elektra" pinball machine produced by Bally in 1981. 2,950 units were produced. Art is nicely finished and features large central image of celestial-looking woman sitting in a meditative pose, surrounded by starfield, large crystal clusters and star children. A large, multi-faceted diamond is in her lap. Large "Elektra" block lettering appears at top center. Art has been double-matted and displays NM. This design was deemed too risque as the tips of the woman's nipples were clearly visible. This was quickly pulled from production (w/a few machines rumored to have made it onto the market w/the original art) and the art of the woman was altered. This altered art is featured in smaller 12.25x12.25" frame and features a more complex costume on the woman, giving her a sort of space princess vibe. This art was then placed over the original image of the woman for production. Exc. Art was created by Tony Ramunni (see following items #1919-1921) as first piece is signed by the artist. Featured on page 119 of Bill Kurtz's book "Arcade Treasures." Original pinball art rarely comes up for sale and is highly coveted. Both framed pieces of art stand alone as great pieces of art in their own right and would be the perfect piece for your game room.
