Item Description
12.75x23.25" artboard w/separate paper overlay (marked "Mad Maestro 284M") has original mixed media art depicting the main box lid art for Lindberg model kit No. 284M - "Mad Maestro." 1965. Art appears unsigned but traces of signature can be seen at bottom of art, though no longer legible. Wonderfully done art depicts bug-eyed monster w/fanged teeth (and a gold tooth) in his underwear about to conduct music w/a rattan cane. He knocks the cane against his music stand, causing sheet music to fall, revealing composers "J.S. Bach" and "Ludwig Beethoven" names as well as sheet music entitled "A Hard Day's Nigh," an obvious reference to The Beatles and their song and film "A Hard Day's Night." Several well-defined faces are included in the audience bkg., including one who looks rather monster-like and another who bears a passing resemblance to Dracula. Large image area measures 10-1/8x20.5". Margins have printing labels and scattered pencil notations along right margin. Margins shows trace of wear but art is NM and would look stunning framed. Impressive model kit art.
