Item Description
The standard size bobbing head set is one of the most classic 1964 Beatles items (see item #2748). However, many collectors are unaware or have never seen in person this tremendous set which is identical in design but towers over those bobbers as each of these are 14" to 15" tall. They were produced in very limited quantities and only available to retailers for use as store display models. These incredibly detailed painted composition figures have each Beatles' facsimile signature decal on the front of figure's base. Underside of each has "©1964 Car Mascots Inc." ink stamp and George and Ringo have complete "Made In Japan Car Mascot Inc. Los Angeles 28 Calif. USA." 1-1/8" dia. labels. John and Paul have just trace label remnants. Figures have some scattered professional restoration and some minor defects, which are noted as follows - John has small touch-up to base chip. Decal has flakes, more noticeable to "John." Decal remains 75% complete. Gold-colored base has some age toning. Fine. Paul has had professionally-crafted replacement made for broken guitar head. Paul's head had some hairlines and a .5" area that have been restored. Figure also had break at waist which has been corrected and restored so that break is no longer noticeable. Gold-colored base has some age toning. VG. Ringo has had one wooden drumstick replaced and has .75" and 1" stress hairlines to the left side of his face, under his ear. His right thumb has also been repaired. Fine. George has tiny stress hairline to the left side of his face, under his ear. Base has had gold paint touch-up and shows lt. wear. VF. Despite the noted defects and noted restoration, still an impressive set for display. One of the most sought after Beatles items, a must have for any serious collector. This is the very same set we sold in our March, 2013 auction for $14,950. The winning bidder (now the consignor) is parting w/this item sooner than expected, making their loss your gain.
