7-1/8x22-5/8” thin art board has 6.25x22.5” India ink image area for Feb. 7. Top margin has pencil title in Capp’s hand “6. Fosdick Has A Dry Humor”. Panel one has men in community center w/Chippendale chair planning event where 3,000 people will watch chairman of baby hospital fund present mayor w/check for one million dollars. Panel two has police wagon going to “General Alarm From the Community Center”. Panel three has police crying, audience w/ large bullet holes as inspector tells Fosdick “3,000 People Slaughtered In Cold Blood ! What Have You To Say About This Fosdick ?”. Fosdick calmly answers “It’s No Longer A Laughing Matter.”. Signed in ink by creator “Al Capp” in panel two, complete w/United Features Syndicate sticker in panel one. Photo stat logo has glue stains, image area otherwise clean and Exc. Created in 1942, “Fearless Fosdick By Lester Gooch” was a parody of Chester Gould’s Dick Tracy and ran alternately w/Capp’s Li’l Abner. Well drawn and funny early example.
