Item Description
c. 1950s. 14.75x20” Bainbridge art board has India ink and watercolor painting w/redhead in sexy gown asking startled man holding tax form “What Do You Mean I Must Show My Source Of Income?”. Art is unsigned, but by Morse. Caption is hand lettered by Morse. Image area is evenly tanned w/trace of lt. wear. VG/Fine. Wesley Morse (1897-1963) created Bazooka Joe in 1953 for Topps bubble gum, and also created the Copa girl for the Copacabana night club. He’s also noted for his work on 8-pagers, aka Tijuana Bibles. Most of his work is unsigned. Well drawn large example by a gifted cartoonist.
