Item Description
8.25x11.25" four-page booklet featuring very stylized art of "Batman & Wonder Boy Robin" in comic strip format. This promotional booklet was printed to present to possible advertisers for the British debut of the 1966 "Batman" TV show that premiered in the US on Jan. 12, 1966. Printed by British ABC-TV (Associated British Corporation, a rival of the BBC which was shuttered on July 28, 1968), cover is dated April, 1966. Booklet story is entitled "The Curse Of The Rhymer" and shows wacky villain abusing TV selection board member. Members of the IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising) see headline and decide to call for Batman, who arrives w/Robin in the Batmobile. Back page lists "Over 500 Batman Products" that "Are Testimony To The Programme's Popularity." Booklet has lt. scattered handling wear w/tiny dark age spot on inside by spine, but o/w VF/Exc. Very limited distribution as used for possible TV show sponsors. Wild, wacky and obscure promotional Batman item. From the collection of Chip Kidd, renowned author, graphic designer and pop culture enthusiast extraordinaire.
