Item Description
Diplomystus is from an extinct genus of freshwater fish distantly related to modern-day herrings, alewives, and sardines. This Diplomystus specimen came from Cretaceous Period deposits in the Green River region of Southwest Wyoming. Plate has been framed and measures 10.25x11.5x1.5" deep and contains 5.5" long Diplomystus fossil. Wonderfully preserved, w/individual vertebrae visible as well as well-defined tail and fins and fossil even exhibits thin, delicate cartilage structures extending from spine. Wonderful display. From the Robert M. Overstreet Collection and comes with COA.
