Item Description
Assembled for retail sale by Courvoisier Galleries. From 1939 Silly Symphonies short directed by Dick Rickard. 16.5x27" vintage wood frame w/glass over cardboard mat has 8.25x19" opening w/cel images and hand painted background. All three Pigs are included w/3.5x4” Practical Pig running w/broom behind Fiddler and Fifer which has image size of 4.5x6.5". There are also four small cel images of birds flying around them. Detailed bkg. depicts landscape w/flowers and trees. Original mat has light pencil text at lower left "From The Practical Pig." as issued. Reverse has 2x2.5" cut-out opening to reveal pair of labels. One has a 1937 Disney copyright, the other notes "This Is An Original Painting On Celluloid From The Walt Disney Studios, Actually Used In The Filming Of The Practical Pig/Only A Very Limited Number Have Been Selected To Be Placed On The Market." Title on label is hand-inked. All three Pig images have some small traces of age toning, acetate sheet has slight waviness but this is only visible when viewed closely. All images remain strong and distinct w/all color intact. Overall appearance as framed remains Exc. Scene is actually combination from two different scenes near end of cartoon where Practical Pig reaches for broom, then for rifle to rescue other two who have escaped from Three Little Wolves. Classic scene, ready for display.
