Item Description
Art is for E.C. issue #16 July-Aug. 1950, actually the second issue of this title and the first "Haunt Of Fear" story ever done by Ingels . Each page is on 15x22" thin art board w/13x18" India ink image area. Storyline has Ernest nagged by his wife. He falls in love w/his secretary, then fakes his own death in order to climb out of a coffin and kill his wife. After killing her he gets back in the coffin and waits for his secretary to release him, but she never shows up and he suffocates. Incredible Ingels imagery, including large skull on splash page, black cat in window, climbing out of coffin and dripping saliva as he strangles his wife on page five, slowly dying in terror on last page. Margins have light dust soil and aging, a few words of missing story text, splash page has tan glue stain in 1.25x3.5" area at lower left, page three has glue stain in text area of newspaper headline, otherwise art is Exc. An early  classic by the artist who would soon become the master of E.C. horror comics. From the Robert M. Overstreet Collection. Comes w/COA.
