Item Description
See previous item #1805. 26.5x33" yellow metal frame contains original India ink and mixed media art on artboard that has been professionally double-matted to 19.75x26". West's recreation is a tweaking of Gil Kane's cover to the Jan. 1972 issue of "The Invincible Iron Man" #44 comic book which pictured Iron Man cowering amidst rubble as the villainous Night Phantom advances and Tony Stark love interest Marianne Rodgers looks on. In West's version, Iron Man stands triumphant amid the rubble, neither Marianne nor the Night Phantom are to be seen as on the original cover. Despite this, the rubble remains the same as Kane depicted it. "Weep For A Lost Nightmare!" story deals w/an injured Iron Man facing off against a robot Night Phantom as it menaces Marianne. Signed at lower right in white, piece has been dated "83." Displays Exc. as framed. Iron Man has never looked better.
