Item Description
Three have "1936” pencil date, done for Donald Duck and Goofy cartoon directed by Ben Sharpsteen released July 29, 1938. Animation sheets are 10x12” w/art in lead and color pencil. Sheets have individual lead pencil numbers. Includes #128 seven dog studies, #139 w/Mickey and Goofy in fancy riding attire and sway backed horses w/cartoon title in pencil on reverse, #140 eight studies of fox and one of dog, #141 w/”The Goof’s Horse” pencil title w/six images, #142 five studies of horse. Sheet #139 has bottom edge trimmed off and reapplied as made, margins have minor aging, a few lt. creases. Sheets are Fine, image areas Exc. Wonderful expressive examples of Horvath’s art. Interesting that Mickey Mouse was apparently intended to be in the cartoon but was dropped for Donald Duck.
