Item Description
"Chisum" is a 1970 Warner Bros. Western film directed by Andrew V. McLaglen that starred John Wayne. It was adapted for the screen by Andrew J. Fenady from his short story, "Chisum And The Lincoln County Cattle War" and is loosely based on events and characters from the Lincoln County War of 1878 in New Mexico Territory, which involved Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid among others. Offered here is an original 11x14.5" prop poster used in filming "Chisum." Done in the classic Old West wanted poster style, poster reads in part "Reward $1200 - William Bonney Alias 'Billy The Kid' - Wanted For Murder" and lists the Kid's measurements and bears Sheriff Dan Nodeen of Lincoln County, Territory of New Mexico's name. Poster has been aged as designed and has several small chips and tears along its margins as designed. Poster comes w/typed and signed LOA on Universal Studios letterhead from the Department Head of the Universal Studios Scenic Department John Means. LOA goes on to state that this poster is an original movie prop and was seen during the movie when the Forrest Tucker character hands them out to the posse.
