Item Description
Lot of five high grade examples. Each tobacco Menko-sized card is 1-13/16x3" w/bw photo image on front and black back (except for one w/ink stamp "2" as indicated on the SGC tag). This set is seen as the transition between Bromides and Menko. Lot includes the key card in this set, Masaichi Kaneda (Swallows). He is one of the best known pitchers in Japanese baseball history, and is the only Japanese pitcher to have won 400 games. He was inducted in the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988. SGC 84 NM 7. Others are Jun Hakota (Swallows) 88 NM/MT 8, Shigeru Fujio (Giants) 86 NM+ 7.5, Yoshio Yoshida fielding (Tigers) 84 NM 7, Makoto Kozuru (Carp) 80 EX/NM 6. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
