Item Description
2-3/16" button with copyright on curl "1981 Zoetrope Studios" and inked notation on reverse "Abel Gance's "Napoleon." This button is from the Marshall Levin Collection and comes with Hake's COA. The original movie by Gance in 1927 is considered an historic French silent movie epic with innovative techniques including use of three screens. Film historian Kevin Brownlow undertook a reconstruction of the movie and his version premiered January 1981 at Radio City, NYC. The movie was released by the studio owned by Francis Ford Coppola. This is the only example found in the Levin Collection and the only example known to us. Mint and rare.
