Item Description
8x10" glossy with great full figure action shot of Israel leaping in the air to catch a ball w/stadium and two other players in the background. Reverse has hand written information along with ink stamp date of Jun. 17, 1940 and same photographers stamp of "Handy & Boesser" as the team photo featuring Israel, see item #1167. Front has crop marks and outline as done for publication. Lt. handling wear but totally bright, glossy and with crisp image. Clarence "Pint" Israel played for the Eagles from 1940-1942 and again in 1946. After the 1942 season he joined the Homestead Grays but his career was interrupted by military service in WWII. When he returned to the Eagles in 1946 it was in time for their Negro World Series championship victory over the Kansas City Monarchs. He ended his career in 1947, again playing for the Grays.
