Item Description
7.5" tall trick-or-treat pail w/4.5" dia. opening. Made by Clinton Plastics, utilizing the same sculpt created for the legendary 1963/1964 Actwell Plastics "Frankenstein Monster Speaker." c. 1960s. The likeness of actor Glenn Strange in Frankenstein make-up is quite striking. Bottom by neck bolt has Universal Picture Co. copyright. Produced in several molded plastic colors, pails received random highlight paint by the factory in contrasting colors. The example we are offering is made of molded orange plastic, variation w/face lightly sprayed w/tan and green paint as made. As these pails were packaged loose inside shipping cartons, wear to the highest painted surfaces is common, as seen on our example's brow and nose. Pail is missing vinyl carrying handle (as are most examples) but intact are original heavy staples used to secure strap. Some were riveted on. VF. A resin replica of this sculpt was released in the 1980s, but this is the original issue plastic pail. Rare and only the second example we've offered in our 46 years. A highly sought after and desirable piece of Universal Monster memorabilia from the height of the 1960s monster craze.
