Item Description
19.25x23.5" wood frame contains artboard w/flat bw acrylic painting showing Samurai Cat (Tomokato) standing amidst a march of monsters. Of the 12 monsters shown, 10 of them appear as scaly, aquatic beings, w/large partially seen octopus creature wrapping its tentacles around Samurai Cat. Last monster is a creepy-looking humanoid w/something protruding from his back. Image is a homage to horror writer H.P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" novella in which the main character discovers a strange hybrid race, half-human and half-unknown creature that resembles a cross between a fish and a frog, that dwell in Innsmouth - a coastal town that had seen better days, and the waters offshore. This image was published in "The Adventures Of Samurai Cat" book published in 1984 (see lot #1991). Title written in black marker. Displays NM.
