Item Description
Ohio Governor Bushnell appointed Mark Hanna in 1897 to replace John Sherman who became McKinley's Secretary of State. These two items are from that year issued before upcoming elections to promote Hanna as the GOP candidate for a full term over the party faction led by Foraker, who opposed him. First is 2.25x6.25" picturing Hanna and reading "For Senator - The Party's Choice." Includes a flag on brass stickpin. NM. Second has ribbon reading "Business Men Of Cleveland - Toledo - June 22-23 1897." Holds 2.5" diamond shape with cello front. Clear cello window over paper portrait and cardboard back naming maker "Fenton & Stair - Cleveland O." The cello front reads "For United States Senator From Ohio - Hon. M.A. Hanna."
